Ghana's Ponzi-like Economy as signs of Failed Leadership

Nothing is irritating like seeing house flies hovering over one's wound just to feed on it or trying to keep the person restless by reminding him or her of the wound or a physician trying to lament to patients about the sicknesses he or she is employed to cure. This is how not just bad leaders but worse leaders look; from generation to generation, leadership is seen as the pillar of hope and protection of every aspect of human welfare.

Our dispensation is just witnessing different scenarios of leadership; the process has just become ceremonial titles that everyone wants to acquire and show off at every pendant opportunity without adding or correcting any anomalies in their sphere of influence.

Taking a clue from Dr Kwame Nkrumah's leadership, it was obvious some are also born with unfading or yearning hearts to the service of humanity and can lay down their lives at tenterhook of adversity to bring relief to many without seeking their self-gratification.
Comparably, we can see this trait in J.J Rowlings' coups and democratic leadership endeavours; the sacrifices of these heroes are historically indelible and will be extremely difficult to erase from the annals of any civilisation.

Ghana has produced numerous leaders aside from these heroes, but we can do our analysis on their work outputs and their impacts on generations; the differences that run through NPP and NDC administrations are not incomprehensible to even toddlers in our country.

The presence of multilateral or bilateral creditors in the world of economic and financial stability or reviving dead economies is not new to any country in this 21st century; even after World War 2, the USA supported Europe with several billion dollars to revamp their economies back to life.
The sins of borrowing are deadly until the borrowers decide to misuse what was borrowed; when we do not invest the money that we borrow into productive sectors that will yield bountiful returns, then we do not expect anything less than a vicious cycle of economic and financial crises.

For example, wasting state funds on a wasteful national cathedral project, building the supposed youth resource centres that do not have anything inside to support the development of the youths but are left to rot, the timing of the Free SHS was wrong, I would rather preferred Community-based SHS model compared to this, at least the students will go to schools and come back home to support their parents to work and pay their fees. Currently,  the level of SHS graduates engaging in motorbike riding to curb unemployment is very worrying and pose high risk to our security.

Those funds could  have been invested in building communty-based agroprocessing factories or support small-scale businesses at every level of our economy. We cannot also see the results of the 1D1F policy, but our annual budget mostly claims to give them tax incentives or financial supports while the national economy is crippling.

Our economic and financial model is just like building our houses on swampy grounds or on weaker foundations which will automatically fall at the whispering of external winds. Also one of the greatest indicators I want to emphasize is the privatisation of state-owned enterprises that took place under former President Kuffour's regime which threw Ghana into HIPC, simply Highly Indebted Poor Countries status, this phenomenon is reoccurring under this current administration, they are selling state properties to whosoever care to get their favours and also plunged the country into HIPC.
Additionally, the inundated corruption and procurement breaches under this administration can be recorded as the position that qualifies to win the World Guinness Record in the world of mismanagement and corruption, not forgetting the bloated government machinery, first in the history of our country where Senior Ministers are appointed alongside the roles of Council of State and also duplication of departments and agencies without adding anything to the volume of our economy.

As former deputy finance minister and MP of this current administration who overlooked these anomalies must look for black veils to cover his face, if indeed he has the heart of honesty and patriotism for the country before reminding us of our economic and financial wounds, he and his cohorts have worsened for us than trying to play sentimental politics on us. We elect leaders to come and solve our already known problems and yet-to-come ones but not join us in the chorus of lamentations.

Although others may see him as more truthful than some of his colleagues or bosses, I see him as the most crafty politician who just wants to prey on electorates; the danger he posed is to mislead us from thinking against the mess they have created but follow their illusions.

The difference between him and others is, he is canny while others are displaying their lies and weaknesses to every category of electorates for them to decide during their voting. I appeal to Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng's constituents to reject him in the upcoming election as well as his affiliate administration, including our Veep Bawumia, the Head of the National Economic Management Team, for keeping us under the Ponzi economy and still seeking to continue.

It's high time citizens of this country become holders of their destinies but not spectators of our politics and policies.
