Some Practical Solutions to Nigeria's Terrorism

These extreme capitalist issues are very complex ones. We were told the private sector is the engine of our economy but this assertion is not entirely true. If our state institutions are not doing well private sector cannot create a healthy economy but more illicit businesses through abusive and corrupt use of state machinery.

In our part of the world, those who venture into the private sector mostly get a lot of support from state officials or some even use their offices to divert state funds into private businesses due to our glorious nature of corruption.

The carnage that is ongoing in Nigeria has now gone beyond the power of the Nigerian populace because every part of the State has been captured by some political elites and their cronyism with organized crime networks, they are more fearful even than custodians of national security.

Their powers transcend the borders of Nigeria due to their illicit wealth and businesses. In extreme capitalist markets, it is all about profit making and not the sustainability of human lives and their environment. That is why they will make their profits and keep their illicit ventures running at all costs, it is not a golden opportunity for Africa, the state must control the necessary engines of the economy, especially those related to essential services.

The main option for Nigeria is to engage International intergovernmental organizations such as UNSC, AU, ECOWAS and NATO despite they also being seen as weak in activating the resolution by the UN on the "Responsibility to protect" and protection of so-called democracy against State sovereignty.

Which NATO claimed to adopted during the Libya case, the other side of the coin is that National Interest is becoming a determinant factor for States within these organizations to respond to crises, which is even weakening the work of the United Nations Security Council, the presence of permanent five with their veto powers have deteriorated the international peace and security and need to be reformed to include the Africa States and eroding of their veto powers so that it can serve its purpose. Why do we think the US vetoed the Israel and Hamas war?

Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US have we heard something of that sought again? Or ECOWAS claiming to combat the Niger Military junta. There is a need for strong collaboration beyond Nigeria with other States to defeat this decade's inhumanity.

Backsliding democracy is becoming worse than military control, it desecrates judiciary, executive, legislature, media and civil society organizations either through threats or influence peddling, this is what is taking place in Africa. When my work is finally published you can get more recommendations.  Thank you
